For over 25 years SUWS has helped young people find their way. We provide an enlightened, innovative approach to help young people struggling with behavioral challenges or emotional issues.   We succeed where others fail, because we know young people – we’ve been helping youth and families for over two decades.

The Transformative Power of Nature

We provide proven treatment methods in a setting where young people can discover themselves – by being somewhere larger than themselves: the Great Outdoors.  Nature is a powerful teacher. She cannot be manipulated or debated. Her majesty creates a unique, high-impact environment for young people. In this place of transformation, the ceiling is the sky; the four walls are East, West, North, and South.

Our wilderness program offers students with ADHD an intensive outdoor experience that helps them learn how to interact with their peers and how to focus their attention and follow through on tasks. By removing the typical outside distractions that can negatively impact kids with ADHD, we can help them develop skills that can translate to the home and school environment.

Giving ADHD Kids "Green Time" through Wilderness Therapy

TV affectionately dubbed wilderness therapy programs "brat camps," but we don't see our students as brats. They are often struggling with emotional or behavioral problems that frustrate them as much as they frustrate their parents and teachers. University-based research validates the effectiveness of outdoor treatment for youth struggling with behavioral problems. The goal of wilderness therapy is to address the underlying issues that cause your teen to struggle and help them develop healthy REAL LIFE skills that will give them the tools to succeed!

If you want more for your teen - if you want to see your teen reaching their full potential - we are sure to have an EFFECTIVE program that can get them back on track for a brighter future.

A Powerful Therapeutic Program in a Dynamic Setting

This uniquely powerful and effective program moves teens past their frustration and anxieties toward self-understanding and a desire to grow and succeed. Located in the beautiful countryside of southern Idaho, our program is purposely placed in a remote, serene part of the country, which provides each student with the opportunity to experience personal growth away from distractions that tend to interfere with their ability to learn effectively. Our students observe and learn to live within the rules of the natural world, often times experiencing them first hand, for the first time.

Through unique wilderness challenges, confidence-building activities, and proven therapeutic methods reinforced by Mother Nature's natural consequences, we provide a powerful and significant approach to help young people with Asperger's learn tools to communicate and interact with others more effectively. We encourage you to call us at 866.865.1314 so we can assess your child's needs and help you decide if SUWS is the right fit for your child.

We understand the powerful pull of peer pressure, especially on teens who often feel as if they don't fit in. We also know these teens CAN develop the tools and confidence to resist these pressures.

SUWS Helps Youth Ages 11-17

For 25 years, SUWS has been the leader in outdoor behavioral programs for pre-teens and teens. We were the first licensed wilderness program in Idaho.

At SUWS, young people identify and work through internal conflicts and emotional obstacles that have kept them from responding to parental efforts, schools, and other interventions. Our students are inherently good and have the ability to be successful, but they have limited access to their own abilities and strengths. SUWS allows teens to reconnect with themselves and their families.
