SUWS Treatment Program Team
The SUWS treatment program team is comprised of a Licensed Clinical Psychologist; Clinical Director; Field Supervisors/Therapists; Field Instructors. At SUWS we believe that successful treatment is best accomplished through small groups and individual attention. For this reason the typical group size is seven students, led by the core treatment team of one field supervisor/therapist and two field instructors. With this low staff-to-student ratio, students receive the personal attention and care they need to ensure a positive, self-affirming experience.

The SUWS field supervisor/therapist is responsible for the therapeutic evaluation and counseling of the student group. Supervisors work closely with each child to help him or her determine the attitudes and behaviors that are negatively impacting their self-perceptions. By pinpointing and examining these self-limiting beliefs, the Field Supervisor/Therapist works with parents, counselors, consultants, and schools to develop customized individual treatment plans.
Two field instructors live and work with the students. Prior to each course they undergo training in behavior management, outdoor skills, first aid, and therapeutic processes. Each team of instructors is equipped with two-way radios, allowing for communication with on-call Field Supervisors/Therapists and safety response personnel 24 hours a day. Instructors monitor the safety and welfare of the group and plan and teach day-to-day activities.
